Places to Write Half-Important Things: Café Muse

Today I’m at Café Muse.

Café Muse

  • Location: 41st and Vine
  • Distractions: Few, and plenty of uptempo smooth jazz. Oh, they’re also missing their store sign out front, but it’ll be up in a few days.
  • Arrival time: 1:45 p.m.
  • Did I use wireless Internet? Yes. The place has its own Wi-Fi network.
  • Weather: Cool and overcast turning to partly-cloudy. Still cooler than usual though. I’d guess, 14 C?
  • Time Spent: 6 hours
  • Productivity: 4 pages
  • Research papers read during writing: 7 full papers

With love from Cafe Muse.

A particular lady suggested this spot for my work today, and so I came out here to give it a shot.

First impression was great. It looks like it should belong in some posh nook of a large city. It has two levels with plenty of seating, power outlets and its own Wi-Fi network.

The beverage quality was excellent, and they boast a huge range of organic options as well. I found it easy to work here for half a day, and my productivity soared. I’m quite pleased at the progress I made today.

It’s situated in the cozy Kerrisdale Village, nestled between numerous specialty shops. There weren’t too many people who came to the shop today either, so I really did feel like I owned the place. I took over two tables for all my papers and paraphernalia and did not feel guilty at all.

They’ve also got a rather nice paint scheme and a lovely faux-fireplace. Seating is comfortable and I can’t complain about the service either. The people working there look like they enjoy what they’re doing and the quality of food and drink is high. Oh, they wear uniforms too. Apparently they’re going for the “espresso bar” look, a sort of a semi-restaurant feel without losing their coffee shop ideals.

A splendid day for work, overall. I’ll be back here really soon.
