ShirtKandi?

DJ Mikey Gallagher made an appearance on KTLA news when he DJ’ed at the Hard 8 clothing store in Los Angeles (KTLA was covering Hard 8′s unique tshirts and business model). It got me thinking along slightly different lines.

For any clothing brand that is designed to “go with” or to be “worn at” music events, clubs, parties etc. it may be good for that brand to contact the music industry players early on in their history and try to establish some kind of relationship. Selling the clothes via booths at major concerts or shows is one thing but I for one would love to have my T-shirts worn and publicized by the performers themselves (for example, Hed Kandi DJs). I’m not sure if Hard 8 actively pursued HedKandi or whether they just wanted Mikey to DJ on one of their open house days, but in any case, that associated HedKandi with Hard 8 in my mind.

My friend Bogdan’s clothing company in LA is going to make a bit of a splash in the nightlife scene here. Watch for local DJs to be sporting the Kush Company DJ t-shirts very soon (i.e. as soon as I finish distributing them)!

Just a thought.
