Cool
So I’ve spent the last few days on the go, trying to add to my ever-growing code base for my thesis software project. The Acer Timeline 3810 that I use for on-road coding is a fantastic machine that compiles code surprisingly quickly. Unfortunately, it seems to be debilitated with a weird file system error that renders it unusable within minutes (yes, I do plan on pursuing it and filing a bug report if I can even figure out how to debug it in the first place…project for next week perhaps). It’s a new phenomenon that just started today, and seeing as Lucid is right around the corner, I’m probably leaving the machine untouched until Lucid is out.
So, between writing code and frequent chiropractor visits, I’ve found myself with less and less time to work on an upcoming poster presentation.
The Genetics and Bioinformatics Training Programs are holding their joint retreat at the Life Sciences Institute on Friday, March 19. It’s going to be an all-day experience, where we get to put up posters and talk about our research.
Now, I’ve never made a poster before, so this experience has been slightly embarrassing and confusing thus far. Posters come in myriads of shapes and colours and formalities. I obviously don’t want to stand out like an old, formal prune, nor do I want to play the buffoon. Thus, most of tomorrow is going to be spent on cleaning up the text and modularizing the layout so I can feng-shui for proper balance and tone.
I shall endeavour to create a downloadable version of the poster in the M.Sc. thesis section when the poster is ready (latest by Thursday).
I also finally placed the Creative Commons license stuff on this site, so at least now there is some guidance for anyone who sees some grander purpose for my posts. Speaking of which, I think I’ve found a grander purpose for this site and my software projects which I will endeavour to elucidate once I can formulate proper sentences for it!
